The First-Timer's Guide to Bangkok
Bangkok is the kind of city that can feel completely different from one street to the next. One minute you’re standing in front of a centuries-old temple, the next you’re wandering through a design-led shopping mall or sitting down for iced coffee in a leafy soi.
It can be a lot to take in, especially on your first visit. Our favourite way to explore it? Forget trying to see everything in one day. Pick a neighbourhood, slow down, and let the city come to you.
Here’s where to start.
Riverside & the Old City
If it’s your first time in Bangkok, this is where you’ll find the city’s most iconic sights.
Start early at the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, before the heat and crowds set in. From there, walk to Wat Pho to see its enormous golden Reclining Buddha, then cross the river by ferry to Wat Arun, one of Bangkok’s most recognisable temples.
The Chao Phraya is best enjoyed without too much of a plan. Take a longtail boat, stop for lunch by the water, or come back around sunset when the temples begin to glow. In the evening, head to ICONSIAM for dinner and riverside views, or simply find somewhere along the river and watch Bangkok move around you.
Take a little time for yourself: Slow down at the Mandarin Oriental Spa, an iconic institution on the river. After a day of temple-hopping, experience a Miracle Moringa treatment to soothe your body, then browse our skincare range at the spa before you leave by boat across the river.

Chinatown & Talat Noi
Chinatown is best experienced with no real agenda, especially once the sun goes down.
Follow the lights along Yaowarat Road, where street-food stalls take over the pavements and every few steps brings something new to try. During the day, wander through Talat Noi, where old shophouses, colourful street art, vintage cars and small cafés fill the narrow lanes.
For something a little more local, explore Sampeng Lane, one of Bangkok’s oldest markets. It’s crowded, chaotic and completely part of the experience.

Sathorn & Silom
Sathorn and Silom offer a different side of Bangkok. This is the city at work during the day, but there are plenty of places to escape the pace.
Start at Lumphini Park for a quiet morning walk, then head up to the King Power Mahanakhon SkyWalk for one of the best views over the city. A visit to the colourful Sri Mariamman Temple adds another layer to the neighbourhood before you settle in for dinner or drinks.
If you’re here in the evening, the streets around Silom come alive, from restaurants and bars to the lively Patpong area.
Take a little time for yourself: For something slower, head to The Sukhothai Bangkok. The spa offers moringa-inspired treatments with massage oils created exclusively for the hotel, making it a lovely place to pause away from the chaotic city for an hour or two.

Siam & Ratchaprasong
This is Bangkok in full shopping mode. If you like fashion, design, beauty or simply wandering through beautiful spaces, give yourself an afternoon here.
Begin at the Jim Thompson House Museum, a peaceful traditional Thai house surrounded by greenery. Then make your way towards Siam, where Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery and MBK offer everything from luxury shopping to local finds.
Take a break at the Erawan Shrine, or visit the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre if you’re in the mood for something more creative.
Take a little time for yourself: You can shop your favorite Moringa Project products at KIS Beauty in CentralWorld, making it an easy stop between sightseeing. And if you need a proper reset, the spa at Anantara Bangkok Siam offers a quieter escape just around the corner.

Sukhumvit & the EM District
For a taste of modern Bangkok, head east.
Sukhumvit is a mix of leafy residential streets, independent cafés, restaurants, rooftop bars and some of the city’s best shopping. Start at Benjakitti Forest Park, where elevated walkways wind through wetlands and greenery, then make your way towards the EM District.
Emporium, EmQuartier and EmSphere are all connected, so you can easily spend an afternoon browsing, eating and taking shelter from the heat.
When evening arrives, head towards Thonglor or Ekkamai for dinner, drinks or one of the neighbourhood’s many stylish cafés.
Stop by Sarnies x Pimp My Salad at Emporium Tower for coffee and a healthy bite, where you can also pick up some Moringa Project skincare. Another option is Happy Lyfe Experience Store at Chapter Market on Sukhumvit 26, which brings together a selection of conscious and sustainable brands.

Bangkok is easy to love when you stop trying to see all of it at once.
Spend the morning exploring temples, slow down over lunch, escape the afternoon heat with a little shopping, then leave the evening open for whatever catches your attention. A street you’ve never walked down. A restaurant you didn’t plan to visit. A sunset by the river.
The best Bangkok itinerary isn’t necessarily the one that fits in the most. It’s the one that leaves you enough time to actually enjoy where you are.
And wherever the day takes you, there’s always time for a little rest, a little self-care, and something good to take home.
