Behind the Brand: The Story of Moringa Project
If you had asked us six years ago what Moringa Project would become, we probably wouldn't have had a very clear answer.
There wasn't a big business plan or a carefully mapped-out brand strategy. It started much more simply. Our founder, Marika, discovered moringa oil while looking for something natural for her own skin. She loved how it felt, started learning more about the plant, and became increasingly fascinated by everything she found.
And then came the thought: why don't more people know about this?
That question was really the beginning of Moringa Project.
It Started with Moringa
Moringa has been around for a very long time. It's grown predominantly across Africa and Asia and has been used in food, traditional wellness and skincare for generations.
What caught our attention wasn't just one particular benefit. It was the plant itself.
Moringa is one of those plants that seems to have been doing its thing for centuries. The leaves are used as food, the pods are eaten, and the seeds contain a naturally rich oil that works beautifully on skin and hair.
The more we learned, the more we wanted to work with it.
So we started with the simplest thing we could think of: the cold-pressed 100% pure oil.
Our First Product
Our first product was Moringa Facial Oil - pure, simple, effective.
We didn't want to add a long list of ingredients just to make the product sound more impressive. We wanted people to experience moringa itself, at its most powerful.
That idea of keeping things simple has stayed with us. We still ask ourselves whether something really needs to be there before we finalise each product.

A Few Trees in Hua Hin
Our moringa journey began in Nong Phlap, near Hua Hin. The first farm was small, and we started learning as we went.
Moringa loves the sun, grows well in our climate and isn't particularly demanding. We let the pods mature before harvesting them by hand, and over time, those first few trees became a much bigger part of what we were building.
There is something quite different about working with an ingredient when you know where it comes from. You start to understand that there is a lot more behind a bottle of oil than what you see on the shelf.
And Then There Were More Farmers
As Moringa Project grew, we began working with a collective of farmers in Nakhon Ratchasima and Chachoengsao.
Many of them have been growing moringa for years. We share seeds and knowledge, learn from each other and work together around each harvest.
This part of the business has always mattered to us because we don't want moringa to simply be an ingredient we buy. We want the people growing it to be part of the story, too.

What Happens to the Seeds?
After harvesting, the moringa seeds are dried in the sun and cold-pressed once to make the oil. It's not the fastest way of doing things, but we prefer to take our time with the process.
And one of the things we like most is that the story doesn't end when the oil has been pressed. The remaining seed material goes into other products, and husks can go back into the soil, helping support the next harvest. It's a small detail, but it's part of how we think about making things.
The Early Days
One of our favourite memories from the early days was our very first market. We didn't even have the finished products yet. We had a pre-order sheet, a tree, our story, and a lot of hope.
To our surprise, people pre-ordered!

Since then, Moringa Project has grown in ways we never really planned for. We've added more products, started working with more farmers, and brought moringa into homes, hotels, spas and stores across Thailand and the world.
But the things that matter to us are still pretty simple. We care about the plant and making products that we genuinely want to use ourselves, sharing the magic of moringa with the world..
And we're still curious about what comes next!
