What is Songkran?

Songkran is a Thai New Year where people celebrate together with their family for a period of 3 days from 13th to 15th of April. On the first day of Songkran people will start doing the water pouring ceremony onto Buddha statue to welcome the new beginning of the year with blessings. As for second day, traditionally Thai family will gathers together and young ones will pour water on hands and feet of their elders for respect and blessings.
