BEAUTY INSIDE AND OUT

how to use Moringa Oil for a calm scalp and healthy hair

Moringa oil for hair

Moringa oil is best known for its hydrating, antioxidant, and anti-ageing properties on the skin. But those are just some of the reasons we love this little serum so much. Thanks to its high oleic acid, palmitoleic acid, linoleic acid and vitamins content, in fact, the oil is also a godsend for anyone with dry, itchy scalps.

How so, you ask? Simple: when massaged on your locks, the one-ingredient oil acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory remedy and gentle moisturiser, helping with conditions like scalp scaling and dandruff, but also, just as importantly, regulating oil production and bacteria associated with oily hair. Moringa oil actually mimics the natural oils our bodies produce, essentially ruling out any risk of irritation.

No flaky scalp? The oil works wonders on regular hair as well. That’s because it has zinc, which  contributes to keratin production -- an essential protein that strengthens hair, enhances shine, and protects against sun damage. Meanwhile, its omega-3 fatty acids lock in moisture and promote hair growth; and its high behenic acid levels (a common ingredient in conditioners) serve a natural conditioner for smooth and untangled hair, reducing breakage and split ends.

As we said: this natural helper really is a godsend.

Can anyone use Moringa oil on their hair?

The short answer: yes. The longer one: while Moringa oil works well on any hair type, those with dry, color-treated, damaged hair can most benefit from using it on their locks.

How do I apply it?

The most important thing to remember when adding Moringa oil into your hair care routine is that a little goes a long way. Simply mix a few drops of the serum into your conditioner and apply on the scalp with a gentle massage, or use directly on your hair if you’re looking to get a shiny, bouncy mane.

Alternatively apply on damp hair after the shower, working your way from the roots to the ends, then proceed with blow drying. Repeat this one or twice a week.

Want an even more nourishing treatment? Make a Moringa oil hair mask. Mix one tablespoon of coconut oil, one tablespoon of Moringa oil and one teaspoon of raw honey together with some  water, apply on hair and leave on for about 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and style. Prepare for the most luscious, thickest hair you’ve ever had.
